1. Acceptance
These terms are an agreement between you and AK FRAMES LTD, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC617144, with registered office at Unit 12, Randolph Place, Randolph Industrial Estate, Kirkcaldy, Scotland, KY1 2YX ("Recard," "we," or "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Recard app or companion web app (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Recard is a mobile-first AI voice and meeting recorder. Recording is available on iOS, Android, and in the web companion at recard-app.web.app, which can record in your browser, import audio files, and capture a shared meeting tab without a meeting bot. Standard mode provides cloud processing and sync. Mobile apps also offer a separate zero-retention Ultra Privacy mode with transient cloud processing and durable phone-only storage. Features, platform availability, and limits are shown in the Service and on our pricing page.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the Service.
4. Subscriptions & billing
- Paid plans (Pro, Unlimited) can be billed through Stripe on the web, Google Play on Android, or Apple’s App Store on iOS. Manage, change, or cancel with the provider used to subscribe.
- App Store subscriptions are charged to your Apple Account when purchase is confirmed. They renew automatically each month unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; Apple charges the account within 24 hours before renewal. You can manage or cancel from your Apple Account subscription settings.
- The Free plan is available at no cost, subject to its volume limits.
- A free trial, introductory price, promotional code, or other offer applies only when the relevant checkout sheet displays it and confirms your eligibility. Store eligibility rules can prevent an offer from appearing. Closing or cancelling a purchase sheet does not create a paid entitlement.
- Plan limits (starter or monthly recording allowances, maximum duration, speakers, retention, and monthly AI-feature allowances) are described on our pricing page and may be adjusted with notice.
- Cancelling keeps the current paid plan active until its paid-through date. A scheduled downgrade takes effect when the billing provider makes the lower product current. Usage already consumed in the applicable starter or monthly period is not reset by changing plans; if it meets or exceeds the new allowance, further metered use waits until the next reset or an upgrade.
- When a lower plan becomes effective, existing Standard-mode cloud recordings receive at least 30 days from that change to be exported or preserved by renewing, even if an earlier plan-based deletion date was closer. After this safety window, the lower plan’s retention applies. The separate 30-day Trash window is measured from when an item is placed in Trash.
- Refunds and payment disputes are handled under the policies that apply to the billing provider used for the purchase.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to break the law, to record people without any consent required where you are, to infringe others' rights, to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service, or to upload content you don't have the right to process.
6. Recording responsibly
You are solely responsible for complying with the recording and consent laws that apply to you. Some places require the consent of everyone in a conversation, and call-recording rules can be stricter. Recard provides the tool; lawful use is your responsibility.
7. Your content
You own your recordings and the content you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the mode you choose: in Standard mode, to process, store, and sync content according to your plan; in Ultra Privacy, to process content transiently and return the result before deleting the Recard-managed cloud copies. We do not use your content to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for details.
8. AI features & Critique
AI outputs, including transcripts, summaries, notes, and Critique, can contain errors or omissions and are provided for your convenience. Critique is a thinking aid, not professional advice; it is not legal, medical, financial, or other regulated advice. Use your own judgment before acting on any AI output.
9. Ultra Privacy
Ultra Privacy temporarily sends your recording to Recard’s backend and Google Cloud Vertex AI for the normal transcript and analysis. Recard returns the completed result to your phone, then deletes and verifies deletion of the temporary Recard-managed audio, transcript, analysis, notes, database records, indexes, share tokens, and Vertex staging objects. The durable recording and result remain inside the Recard app on that phone. Ultra Privacy uses the normal allowance and maximum duration of your plan.
This is zero-retention application processing, not on-device AI. Infrastructure providers may process limited service, abuse-prevention, or security data under their own terms. If Recard cannot verify its cleanup, the app does not mark the job successfully completed and keeps the original audio for retry.
Ultra-private items do not sync, appear on other devices or the web, enter workspaces, or support public links. They are excluded from backups. Recard cannot recover them after successful processing if the app is removed or the phone is lost, erased, damaged, or replaced. You are responsible for exporting any original audio you need to retain. Account deletion performed in the app deletes the signed-in account’s local ultra-private items from that phone; a remote deletion request cannot erase files stored only on a phone Recard cannot reach.
The optional “Allow transient Ask & Voice” setting is off by default. If you enable it, you authorise Recard to send the minimum required local transcript and analysis for each Ask request and compact meeting context plus live microphone audio for each Voice session. This remains cloud AI, not on-device AI. Recard does not store or index that private context in your cloud library; the conversation copy stays on the phone and clears after 24 hours of inactivity. Provider service and security processing remains governed by the provider’s terms, and the normal Ask and Voice allowances apply.
10. Workspaces
Workspace members may access content shared into that workspace according to their role. The member who uploads a recording uses their own processing allowance, and the member who starts an AI query or live voice session uses their own AI allowance; an owner’s subscription does not automatically sponsor other members. Ultra-private iPhone items cannot be placed in a workspace. Workspace owners and administrators are responsible for membership, invitations, lawful sharing, and ownership transfers.
11. Availability & changes
We may update, add, or remove features, and we may modify or discontinue parts of the Service. Mobile features can also depend on operating-system and network capabilities outside our control. We aim to give reasonable notice of material changes.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI outputs will be accurate.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recard will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory consumer rights.
14. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms. Before deleting the app or account, export anything you need, especially phone-only Ultra Privacy content for which no recovery copy exists.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by Scots law and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available under the law of the country where you live.
